Time

Time. To me, time is super important. If you know me, you know I don’t like to waste my time. I’m a huge multitasker, and I’m always doing something. Right now, I am in class, writing a blog and taking notes. I want to think I’m not doing half bad in any of the tasks either! Haha! While I love the time-efficient things in life, I have recently started to surrender my time to God. (Now that can be vague so that I will explain further later) What has stood out to me is how much God uses you when you surrender! If you want to be used by God, keep reading.

In our society today, it is easy to say, ” I am so busy,” “I don’t have any free time”. Trust me; I get it. In fact, I say those phrases way more than I should. Then a couple of weeks ago, I had a thought what if I gave God my time? What would it look like if my time, my day, wasn’t mine but God’s….. The craziest thing happened when I did that. God used me. He used me to encourage people and to guide them through difficult situations. He led me to great fellowship. He led me to a great time with him. What is even more brilliant is this didn’t just happen when I had my bible in my hand or just on Sunday. God can be everywhere and in everything, if we would only invite Him. Jesus is a gentleman, and He doesn’t force us to do anything with Him. However, when we invite him into everything, there is so much more beauty in mundane things.

How to find Jesus in everything? Well, that’s for a different post, but for now, let’s stick to how to put God in the center of your time.

1.Ask Him

I feel like this should be self-explanatory. We should already ask God to be with us every day. But if we are honest, many of the “shoulds” get lost in the sauce of everyday life. Can I get an Amen??

To be as straightforward as possible, this is step one. When you start to plan out every month, every week, every day, ask God that He would use your time to bring Him glory. Ask Him to use you to bring a little bit more of heaven down to earth. This might sound too churchy and not fun. I challenge you to do it anyway. I can say it’s a blast every day, but until you experience it yourself, you won’t believe me. Try it tomorrow and see what happens.

2.Leave room

We love to budget every second of every day for something. I am very guilty of doing that. At some point in all of the clutter in our day, we take the focus off of God and on to us. Our needs, our wants, and that is super normal. But I don’t want to be ‘normal.’ I want to thrive. I want joy, peace, and patience. I want to walk into a room, and people say, “wow! She is doing it.” Whatever it is, I hope you do it well! However, to do well, you need to give yourself room to do well.

Hear me: I am not saying drop a class or don’t go to Wednesday night church or don’t do your homework. No, dear, I am saying drop social media one day a week. I am saying don’t watch so much tv. I am saying maybe take a day off at the gym and make time for real friendships. I am saying put yourself in a position to grow in whatever way God has for you in this next season.

3.Sabbath

This last one is something long forgotten. A day of rest?? A whole day??? How could I ever find the time??

People actually did it for years. The world wasn’t always 24/7. It use to be 24/6, and before that, even less. However, with so much “good” technology we are now busier than ever! Wild, right?

Not only did people once practice taking a sabbath but God did too. The God of the entire universe work for six days and rested on the seventh. (Check out the beginning of Genisis 2 if you need a reminder) I don’t know about you, but if the God of the entire universe can rest, I think I can too. In fact, I think I need it infinitely more.

At first, Sabbath will feel daunting, but slowly it will become the best part of your week. I am a person always on the go, but man is my Sabbaths the best! I can write a whole post on ideas of how to spend your sabbath, but for now, be encouraged to start. This practice will refresh you. All you need to do is begin.

I think this is something I will continue to grow in, so I plan to update this. I want everyone to know the tips I have found helpful to begin to connect with Jesus authentically. I hope you found this helpful, and I will post on social media when I update this. That said, follow me if you haven’t @isabel_paoloni on Instagram. As always, message me any prayer requests. Coffee & Food -Houston Tx

Coffee & Food -Houston Tx

I haven’t posted in a month, but this post is basically two in one πŸ˜‰

If anyone knows me, they know I LOVE coffee. It is very on-brand of me to post a blog about coffee and food instead of just food. Honestly, if I went to Texas and didn’t write a food blog, it wouldn’t feel right, haha!

But first coffee! One of my favorite chain coffee shops I found was PJ’s coffee. There are many locations randomly scattered throughout the country, so I hope there is one near you! Their dirty chai with white chocolate or a Praline latte with oat milk is both magical here!

Minuti coffee is even better coffee, in my opinion; however way fewer stores, sadly. πŸ™ They are only in Texas near Houston. But if you get coffee once in Texas, this is where you should get it! I love dirty chai’s, so of course, that is my first go-to here. I may be the only person who finds this magical, but they have gingerbread flavoring all year round !!

The third Houston coffee shop that is a must is Uncle Bean. This is a local coffee shop that gives the best vibes! These drinks are fun and creative. I had a Horchata latte that was amazing! The birthday cake latte and dirty chai are also top-notch:)

Another great local coffee shop is Doshi house! They have the sweetest baristas and a great selection of vegan options! I got a Hawaiiano, and it tasted like Hawaii. I was in love! Also, the best vegan muffins, so make sure to pick one up πŸ™‚

All of the previous coffee shops are in Houston, but the following are along the coast in little towns. I love visiting little beach towns. If you have an extended period of time in Texas, I highly recommend venturing out to the beach towns. This coffee shop is called MOD coffee. The whole town around it is a great vibe, so definitely check it out, look around, and head to the beach!

Another fantastic coffee shop in another beach town was Art of coffee in Kemah, Texas! Super cute town with a little amusement park next to the beach. The coffee was so good and had a great variety. I would definitely go there again!

Now for the FOOD πŸ™‚

Big Horn BBQ

The BEST fried okra ever. If you are ever near Big Horn at least get a side of okra for $3. It will be the best $3 you have ever spent. Also there food is really well priced because they give you a lot of it. They have drive through and dine in. Amazing and in my families opinion a must!

Zoes kitchen

I had no idea that I would find the best Mediterranean food while in Texas but WOW. There salads are amazing but if I would say one thing to try it would be their falafel. The salad on the right has falafel on it too so that works. But no matter what you get it is sure to blow your mind.

Sarpinos Pizzeria

I had this pizza my first night in Texas and was convinced I was never going to try anything there so that I could just eat this pizza the whole time. The best veggie pesto pizza πŸ˜‹ also pineapple pizza 🀩immaculate. They are a little pricey but worth it!!

Twisted grilled cheese

I don’t know about you but I love grilled cheese. Like I use to eat it multiple times a week. Naturally when I found out there was a grilled cheese restaurant, I had to go! TGC 5 cheese classic with avocado and peppers… best thing everπŸ₯° A little pricey but if you can try it once! Its worth it!

Torchy’s Taco

I love trying new Mexican food and this was amazing! The picture is of their street corn which is so so good. But If you arent going to get any sides get a fried avocado burrito! Really good for big families too. I loved them and the names on the menu are really funny so check them out!

Imperial china

The best egg fu young I have ever had! Haha so so good if you like real Chinese food🀩 also if you have a big group this is a great option. They have reasonable prices for how much food you get. So if you are in Texas for an extended period of time and want to try new things, this is your go to!

Kolache Factory

I basically had a Kolache everyday I was in Texas… I loved them that much haha! I didn’t put this at the top of the list because you cant get a full meal here. However, if I was showing a friend around Texas I would take them here for breakfast. Im not sure why but the bread is so perfect! If you don’t think the Kolache is your style get just their bread and it will blow your mind.

Villa Roma Pizza

Such good pizza for such a good price! They also have fun deserts! I feel like this would be a great place to order from when you want to relax and not spend too much. πŸ™‚

Hiccups and Churroholic

They have boba, ice cream, AND churros!! Isnt that magical?? I think it is. Plus you can pick what is on your churro. Cookies or sprinkes or cereal. Highly recommend you try it πŸ™‚

Bearded Papas sugar land

I had never had a cream puff before Bearded Papa and I don’t think I will need to. They are so delicious. I was in Texas for a while. In that time I had three different ones. That said I would highly recommend the cookies and cream, matcha, or creme brulee!

Smoothie king

Last but not least, all over Texas there are Smoothe Kings. They have so many different options that everyonecan find something they like. It is so good for a quick healthy pick me up. They are also huge so I had them for meals sometimes. Super healthy but still taste good πŸ™‚

I hope this was kind of fun and different frommy usual serious topics haha! If you know someone going to Texas soon send this to them! haha πŸ™‚ as always let me know how I can pray for you or get connect by following me @isabel_paoloni on Instagram. Much love and God Bless πŸ™‚ – Isabel
